What’s New For Within

Just a few things have changed since the last time I was actively sharing on Within Provisions. Some exciting, some hard, some just plain unexpected. And while I know you’re dying for a play-by-play of the last two years, I’ll give you the highlights before getting to a little news of an exciting new chapter for within:

  1. I worked at a marketing agency exclusive to fresh produce brands. This means I learned the ins and outs of marketing healthy, fresh food. I helped build brands from the ground up by learning to tell good stories. I directed the creation of not just pretty but effective websites. I generated marketing plans & (the never ending) content calendars, saw the craziness behind social media marketing, and last but certainly not least, I developed, tested, styled, and shot healthy recipes starring fruits and vegetables. It was a blast and I learned so much along the way.

2. I got married!!!!! And now my last name might be even more unique than my first. John is my best friend, biggest supporter, and executive taste tester for all the food you see on here 🙂

3. All the while, I’ve been working on my Master’s in Nutrition and Integrative Health over at MUIH. I have about a year left before I graduate and sit for my CNS (learn more about how a CNS compares to an RD here) and begin clinical practice.

What’s Next

In the meantime, I’m dedicating my focus in 3 areas: my classwork, attaining 1,000 supervised clinical hours, and *drum roll* launching a business within, well, within. Instead of waiting to be completely done with school, I thought to myself, “what am I qualified to do now?” which happens to be a few things.

I can cook a mean meal, give a tip or two along the way, and I can help others who may be overwhelmed at the thought of changing the way they eat. So I took a pen and paper and started writing down what services I could offer right now, which turned into the humble beginning of a small business that will eventually turn into a full-blown nutrition practice. And the funny thing is, the only thing that really changed was believing in myself the ways others around me did.

So as of this weekend, I took on my first official business client and served as an in-house “chef” for a 3-day business design sprint. This meant providing healthy food around the clock to make sure employees were optimized for long days of focused work, and the leaders could focus on running the company rather than cooking and cleaning.

Not only did I get to prove that healthy food can also be delicious, but I also got the privilege of hanging out with some amazing leaders and thinkers that run this Austin-based tech startup, Moving Moments. Win-win!

In addition to bringing healthy and homemade food to the center of gatherings, I’m also offering meal planning and nutrition coaching services at a discounted rate while I gain supervised practice hours. If you’ve ever considered working with a nutritionist, this is the perfect way to get started!

I am excited to see what opportunities arise, what incredible people I get to share a meal with, and what conversations are sparked around all things health and nutrition along the way. If you’re curious, drop me a line and let’s talk about how we can partner toward better health for you and your community!

And if you’re still just getting the hang of everything, be sure to follow along as I start posting more educational content and continue creating delicious recipes 🙂
